4 x GTX 1070 - Power efficient Mining rig for Ethereum (50% TDP, 100W, 31 MH/s per GPU)

A short video of my mining rig prototype, up and running since around 1 week and very stable so far.

As pretty much everyone else I could not get a hold of any proper AMD rx470, rx480 etc. GPU, so I decided to give the Nvidia GTX 1070 a try.

So far, I cannot complain. It was pretty much plug and play and I had not issues at all setting it up. After a few optimizations, e.g.
- Reducing TDP from 100% to 50% (79% shown in Afterburner)
- Reducing Core Clock by 100 MHz
- Increasing Memory Clock by 600 MHz (maximum is 800 MHz for me, due to Micron Memory 😊)
- Changing fan-curve (more steep)
- Adding a 5 USD external 2,5 W fan

I am getting a relatively decent Hashrate of 31 MH/s per GPU (124 MH/s for the rig) on Ethereum at a total Power Consumption of just under 460 Watt.
Also – after adding a cheap external fan, and despite ambient temperatures being at 30°C – all GPUs are operating at an acceptable temperature range of 51°C – 58°C at full load without me having to switch on the room’s AC for active cooling).

Note: Although in the video it sounds like I am standing next to a jet engine, in reality the fans are clearly audible, but not that disturbing! 😊

For anyone interested, those are the parts used in this rig:

I am buying the exact same configuration as you have, the only problem being RAM and Power Supply. (I have a 220V Line) Will it work with a 750W Power Supply? Also I wanted to ask whether 4GB DDR4 is enough or I need to get 8GB.

Dude you're the man! My cards were sucking some power and I kept crashing when trying to go down on power. I lost a little hashrate using your setting but the profits actually went up a little because of the wattage. Thanks!

you made a mistake it said 457kW instead of W

Used mod VGA or just setting MSI afterburner??? Please answer it bro

No wonder you can't find 1070s on Amazon for a good price

why 1000w PSU if you using only cca 450w for 4 gpu?

Hi everyone, I don´t know if this is the best place to have someone help me with this doubt... I started mining yesterday, the machine started working fine for three hours but after that, it crashed... I´m using three graphics cards 1060 (6 Gb) and get nearly 60 Mh/s, now every time a start mining again the time is dropping (last time 15 min.). I´m using a Windows 10, Claymore, and mining in nanopool. There is any configuration I need to do to make the mining process more stable? Thank you all in advance, D :-)

hi, im gonna be building the same msi 1070 armor soon. was thinking is it efficient to mine the ethereum or better use it to mine bitcoin? i heard many say for ethereum best use the AMD RX... any recon> ? also do the profit per day able to cover the cost of electricity? currently my country charge around $0.09 usd for kw/h. i might going to get 6 pcs of the msi 1070 armor.

So conclusion what should we set the coreclock and the power at? For most efficient..
